Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, 'The Defector' tells one of the most extraordinary and exciting true stories of modern times.

A classic spy thriller, our film focuses on a Soviet defection during one of the most turbulent political periods of the last century. We are immersed in a shadowy world of covert intelligence gathering, dead-drops, assassinations, interrogations and betrayal.  A world in which the question, 'who can be trusted', has terrifying personal and global implications. 

The Defector Film Ltd is developing this project in association with many of the intelligence service personnel who were involved in the story.  We have commissioned a script from award-winning screenwriter, novelist and journalist, Boris Starling.
